icy blue eyes cataloged all; the looks given and taken, how long curtsies and dresses were, and most importantly, where the king’s attention wandered. he picked people apart with as much ease as he did laws and treatises, finding flaws and loopholes in equal measure. Viktor was a man whose noble lineage had guaranteed him a spot at court, but it was his shrewdness and his various talents which had earned him a place at the king’s council. there was no one who had the king’s more than him, for whose opinion was more highly valued. he was a constant over the years, even when everyone might not have been him. as an unwed man, it had been joked that he was married to KING&COUNTRY instead. though he will make his rounds and come to inspect the character of every new woman, he decided to meet first with the one who held her head so high.
