Her ACCEPTANCE of his invitation was met with a smile and a glance towards her jilted partner. Disappointment was visible on the young man’s face as he stomped off, but Thomas has had to deal with his fair share of WOUNDED hearts.

                           ❝ It is. ❞

Whether it was improper for him to say so – and so SOON after the lady’s husband had been laid to rest! – or not was not discussed, as he slid an arm around her waist. The waltz was an extremely important form of dance, and one he considered almost HOLY in its entirety. The music was repetitive and the steps even more so, but without the PROPER rhythm and partner, it could quickly go wrong.

But his steps were smooth and sure, and what mishaps she might have had were covered by the fluidity of his movements. Even the initial SHOCK he’d felt when he took her hand was almost forgotten, but he had barely the time to even think about what that meant.

IMPROPRIETY WAS THE FUEL FOR rumor & from rumor stemmed interest & ATTENTION for which the mourning Countess certainly basked in. her name was to be on the tongues of many not only muttering about the gala she held only a month from her dear husband’s passing but that she so openly entertained a man below her status.

such reverie allowed the glimmer of a simper to linger upon her visage, cradled by his arm, framed to PERFECTION for their waltz. once more she was the center of attention, the crowd enamoured by their GRACE & ELEGANCE as they moved about the space. while the music continued, she took a moment to study him, gaze drifting over the various planes of his countenance, the prominent nature of his jawline, his cheekbones. but it was the EYES, the irises which shifted colour in different tones of light, it was practically entrancing.

so lost in her inspection, she nearly did not realize their accompaniment was drawing to a close, reality snapping back into view, removing herself from his touch to applaud her hired musicians once more.

❛       it truly has been a pleasure …
                                            … Sir Thomas, is it ?       ❜
